Apple is poised to introduce an innovative feature called “Personal Voice” that will enable iPhone and iPad users to have their devices speak on their behalf. It is said that this feature is being developed to help those who struggle with speaking on phone calls and in in-person situations. The forthcoming launch of “Personal Voice” represents yet another step towards AI technology taking a part of everyday life.

“Personal Voice” will give Apple users the ability to create a script of sorts on a device generating up to 15 minutes of audio, in the user’s voice. Personal Voice will be accompanied by “Live Speech” witch will let users save popular phrases and type them into the device that can then be used when speaking on a phone, on a FaceTime call, or in an in-person conversation. To achieve these programs Apple is saying they will be using machine learning. They have also said that by using software stored on the device they anticipate this will make the data it stores more private and secure.

Personal Voice will allow users to generate up to 15 minutes of audio in their own voice, essentially creating a customizable script on their device. Complementing this functionality will be “Live Speech,” a companion feature that allows users to save frequently used phrases and input them into the device for integration during phone calls, FaceTime conversations, or face-to-face interactions. To make these advancements possible, Apple plans to leverage machine learning technology. Apple is assuring users that the software will be stored on the device itself, hoping to enhance privacy and security by minimizing data transmission.
