President Trump is “strongly” considering Kari Lake to be his 2024 running mate. This comes from an Axios report mentioning Lake as one of the few on a short list for the VP seat. In many respects it is believed Trump will pick a woman as his running mate this time around, in an attempt at gaining the White suburban woman’s vote.

These Four GOP Figures Might Be At The Top Of Trump’s VP List

Many strategists and those close to the President have said they see him picking a woman to beat Biden in 2024. Narrowing his list down now is what many are saying is just a strategy to get ahead of himself and popular opinion within the next couple months. Though picking a VP is important and given the President’s past results with Mike Pence it seems he is thinking about the decision a bit differently this time around.

Lake is a former television news anchor who made a name for herself when she chose to switch career paths and run in Arizona’s gubernatorial race against Democrat Katie Hobbs. Hobbs ended out winning, and Lake has famously called the election stolen. Since the 2022 election Lake has fought against Hobbs and the state as many shady things occurred during the election, making her stand out in Trump’s eyes. Lake is also an adamant Trump supporter who Trump supported in 2022 and who has supported Trump in many instances.

CPAC Straw Poll Shows Clear Favorite

Trump views Lake as a loyal potential pick, who is standing up for herself and the America First agenda. However, there have been some comments about the downside of a Lake VP pick. As many of Trump’s friends worry she could outshine him if he were to pick her. There is also the possibility Lake would take the opportunity of the VP position only to be a step closer to the presidency herself – which may prove fatal in her VP potential.

Trump spokesperson, Steven Cheung, only had one thing to add when Axios asked for a comment on Trump’s VP status at that was,

“Anyone who thinks they know what President Trump is going to do is seriously misinformed and trying to curry favor with ‘potential’ V.P. candidates.”

He added that Trump will choose his running mate on his own time, and anyone “playing the media game are doing so at their own peril.”

For now, Lake still has her sights on the Arizona political scene. She and her campaign have gone as far as to respond to the ideas of her taking the VP spot multiple times. After the CPAC DC straw poll results came out Saturday Lake’s campaign tweeted that you can’t serve as Governor and Vice President at the same time.

She also told Fox News,

“I am 100% dedicated to serving as Arizona governor … I will also work to make sure President Trump gets back in the White House ASAP. Anything outside of those two goals is nothing but a distraction.”

So while it seems Lake isn’t interested in the VP spot, at least for now, who knows what the next couple of months will change.
