Preliminary reports from NTSB have stated that the train derailment, which took place 20 days ago was 100% preventable. This comes after reports are revealed that the Norfolk Southern train received a “critical audible alarm message instructing the crew to slow and stop the train to inspect a hot axle.” Instead of doing just that, they pushed on until the train derailed and caused the mess it has.

Running From Reporters? Pete Buttigieg SLAMMED for Snapping At Reporter: Refuses to Comment on Train DerailmentĀ

In a statement from NTSB chair Jennifer Homendy, she said,

“We call things accidents. There is no accident. Every single event that we investigate is preventable,” she said. “So our hearts are with you know, that the NTSB has one goal and that is safety and ensuring that this never happens again.”

“The function of the HBD is to detect overheated bearings and provide audible real-time warnings to train crews,” the report said.

“Train 32N passed three HBD systems on its trip before the derailment,” adding that at the third system, it recorded “the suspect bearing’s temperature at 253Ā°F above ambient.”

“After the train stopped, the crew observed fire and smoke and notified the Cleveland East dispatcher of a possible derailment. With dispatcher authorization, the crew applied handbrakes to the two railcars at the head of the train, uncoupled the head-end locomotives, and moved the locomotives about 1 mile from the uncoupled railcars,” the NTSB wrote. “Responders arrived at the derailment site and began response efforts.”

Biden Fights Himself In Poland – Name A Bigger Hypocrite

This oversight, if we can call it that, has resulted in 15,000 pounds of contaminated soil and over 1.1 million gallons of contaminated water. Only now on day 20 have the current administration come to Ohio to see what was going on. Though Secretary Buttigieg visited he got aggravated with a reporter, and the residents didn’t even want him there at this point. We are still waiting for Biden to make a statement or visit the area. Though former President Trump has visited and personally met and provided water and cleaning supplies.

So? Why is the engineer who made this mess not penalized? Why cannot we get the SOT impeached?

RR Reforms:

Update X Train RR crews
Update sensor systems
Upgrade RR Bed
Automate more
Color code toxic cargo cars IE Orange, White, Yellow, Red,
Sensors along RR routes for toxins

One solution, limit all trains to maximum 20 MPH until ALL tracks and control systems are INSPECTED and ruled in compliance. That would limit damages IF there was a derailment. Also, if the RR personnel are going to IGNORE warning systems, the 20 MPH limit might finally get it through their hard heads to FOLLOW THE PROPER PROCEDURES!

The report indicates the train derailed as the train crew was stopping the train in response to a hot box detector. The investigation is still in process. It will be interesting to see exactly how the NTSB will determine HOW this ‘accident’ was preventable.

Why not routinely maintain the bearings and axels with the proper grease??? The RR and maintenance crew should be held to account!!! Hazardous materials containers REQUIRE proper maintenance…

Trump will still blame the tragedy on President Biden. Other people who want to blame the tragedy on Biden should remember that Trump tool at least eight months to do anything about the coronavirus.
