Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, pulled in a record $12 million for House Republicans Wednesday night at his first major headlined fundraiser of the 2024 election cycle. This fundraiser marks the beginning of the GOP fundraising season, which is highly important for the party. McCarthy is aiming to expand the Republican majority in next year’s elections and in 2024. While the GOP captured the House’s majority in November they will have to work if they hope to take more seats as Democrats only need to gain about five seats to win back control of the chamber next year, according to Fox.

Speaker McCarthy is known as one of the most prolific fundraisers in D.C., as he brought in $150 million just this last cycle in order to help Republicans win the House majority. While hopes of a red wave were crushed in November the party holds the majority with 222-212. It is necessary for the party to watch the election and raise as much as possible.

The fundraiser, last night, was held at the Conrad Hotel in Washington D.C., in honor of McCarthy’s hard-fought election for Speaker. Almost every House GOP leadership and committee chair was in attendance, and the event was hosted by McCarthy’s friend, veteran-lobbyist Jeff Miller.

During an exclusive interview with Fox before the fundraiser began McCarthy said,

“No one has ever argued that I don’t work hard, and I’ll continue to work hard to get the message out…I want to grow the number of Republicans in the House to make sure that policy becomes law,”

“there are number of places where we could have done better.” Pointing to disappointing GOP results in some statewide races in two key battlegrounds, McCarthy said that “the top of the ticket hurt us in Pennsylvania and Michigan.”

“We won in California. We won in New York. In Oregon. We have grown this party and actually expanded this party in seats that we haven’t had before,” McCarthy spotlighted. “We’re winning seats that [President] Biden won by 10 points. So I think the role model is do what you’ve done well, and continue. That means finding some of the very best candidates, deliver your message like the Commitment to America and follow through with it.”

As part of an effort to achieve these goals, McCarthy launched a joint-fundraising committee to help thirty republicans in the House who could be set to face potentially challenging re-elections next year.

Has Ronna McDaniel frittered it away yet?

Most of that money was probably by everyday people. That’s a good amount, but what about the left’s ability to raise 250 million. That is what killed the red wave. There is too much money being put up to buy votes. You can’t have foreign countries buying our elections, or individuals like Soros.
