University of Florida football player, and backup quarterback, Jalen Kitna, was expected to be released from the Alachua County Jail Thursday after being arrested Wednesday on child pornography charges. Kitna was charged with two counts of distribution of child exploitation material and three counts of possession of child pornography. He was given a $80,000 bond during his court appearance Thursday morning. He was also ordered not to have access to the internet or unsupervised contact with minors.

Kitna had played in four games for the Gators during their 2022 season. He is also the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna. Jon Kitna was present in the courtroom Thursday along with his wife Jennifer Kitna.

19-year-old Jalen was suspended from the University indefinitely Wednesday as the news of his arrest broke. Though now details on his arrest have been released by Gainesville Police. GPD has said that their investigation began in June when police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about images centering on child pornography being shared on Discord, an instant messaging and social media platform. Though as they continued their investigation they were led to Kitna.

Kitna has said that he remembered sharing two images that he believe were legal since he had found them online, though those images were of a pubescent girl with the phrase “so young junior” written on them. A search of his phone then yielded three additional images of two nude pubescent girls in the shower that had been saved onto Kitna’s phone last December.
