Nestlé has announced plans to introduce a plant-based Toll House morsel chocolate chip. They claim that this addition to their lineup will make enjoying homemade chocolate chip cookies easier for vegans. According to the company, these new chocolate chips could hit shelves as early as 2023. Despite the hard times plant-based meat companies are facing, Nestlé is looking to advance their efforts in the baking realm as plant-based products are still appealing to younger consumers.

Nestlé introduced a line of dairy-free morsels for people with food allergies in 2018. Though this new plant-based angle to chocolate chips is supposed to be positioned differently, according to AXIOS. Nestlé USA Chief Strategy Officer Melissa Cash told AXIOS that “Plant-based, especially for those that are trying to avoid dairy, can be one of those places where you feel like you have to compromise.” Though with the company’s Simply Delicious Morsels line, what could they be referring to that would make the two products any different?

Nestlé’s Simply Delicious Morsels line, according to AXIOS, is “made with only three ingredients – “cocoa butter, pure cane sugar, and 100% real chocolate” – all of which are considered vegan.” Leaving a wake of confusion considering that there are currently no answers from the company as to what the difference might be or what these plant-based chocolate chips might be or include.

I fear most vegans have got at least ONE screw loose, maybe more. Eating eggs, butter and cheese does not hurt an animal.
